On Wednesday 15 July, Helen Miller, Deputy Director of the IFS and head of the Tax sector presented a virtual masterclass on the taxing of companies which operate across multiple borders.

In recent years there has clearly been a lot of debate, and some public anger, about how much multinationals pay (or don’t pay in tax). The OECD has undertaken a huge programme of work to foster collaboration between countries to enact policies that prevent tax avoidance. This Masterclass discussed what corporation taxes are actually trying to tax, how multinational companies legally reduce their tax bills and what the options for reform are.
