As usual we open with the first meeting of the new year giving a dual perspective on that ever topical subject - the UK economy. This year we were delighted to welcome Melanie Baker, Royal London Asset Management and Philip Rush, Heteronomics.
Melanie is RLAM’s Senior Economist with over 18 years experience in the financial sector. She started her career at Morgan Stanley where she was an economist analysing currencies. She was Senior UK Economist at Morgan Stanley and analysed the UK economy and political risk events for more than a decade. Her period covering the UK included the aftermath of the financial crisis, Scotland’s Independence referendum and Brexit. She is a CFA charterholder and is also a Trustee of a local charity providing community childcare. She attended Edinburgh University and has a master’s degree in Economics from University College London.
Philip is the Founder and Chief Economist of Heteronomics. Until launching in November 2016, he was Nomura’s Senior European Economist and was the Chief UK Economist there since 2010. Before that, he was UK Economist at Barclays Wealth, where he also developed strategic asset allocation models for their market return portfolios. Philip started his career at Lehman Brothers covering the UK, Scandinavian and Swiss economies. His fundamental framework was recently published as Real Market Economics.
The meeting starts at 6pm. For security, members are required to pre-register. If you would like to register for either event, please email admin@spe.org.uk
