On Thursday 23 November, Richard Hughes and Chris Drane from the HM Treasury will discuss key aspects of the Chancellor’s budget in this early morning seminar.
Richard Hughes is Director Fiscal and Acting Chief Economic Adviser at HM Treasury. Richard has responsibility for economic surveillance and analysis; fiscal policy and analysis; monetary policy framework and relations with the Bank of England and government financing and debt management.
Chris Drane is the Deputy Director of the Fiscal Statistics and Policy team in HM Treasury. The team is responsible for producing the monthly public sector finances statistics - jointly with the ONS - and for providing analysis and advice on the setting of fiscal policy. Prior to joining the Treasury in 2014, Chris worked as a senior economist at both the Department of Work and Pensions (covering a variety of areas including analysis of the labour market, benefit forecasting, distributional analysis and welfare reform) and at the Ministry of Justice (covering analysis of legal aid, the legal services market and the civil and family justice systems).
