In this interview Catherine Connolly talks to Matt Dillon, Director of City Economics, and Global Economics Skills Leader at Arup, about their new professional development programme for economists.

The ‘Arup Economics Accreditation’ development programme was launched in June 2022 with the support of the Society of Professional Economists. It provides a professional pathway and accreditation for economists working at Arup. As the programme develops the goal is to offer economists ‘chartership’ within the company like other professions such as engineering.

In the interview Matt discusses what the programme involves, how participants are finding it and future plans. The discussion also touches on the interesting wider question about professional development and certification for economists.
