2017 Outlook for the UK Economy

Erik Britton, Fathom Consulting
Andrew Benito, Goldman Sachs

As usual  the first meeting of the new year gave a dual perspective on that ever topical subject - the UK economy. This year we were delighted to welcome Erik Britton,  Fathom Consulting and Andrew Benito,Goldman Sachs.

Erik, along with his colleague Andrew Brigden, leads their team of macroeconomists and strategists, offering well-informed, independent economic consultancy. Prior to joining Fathom, Erik was a director at a leading macroeconomic forecasting consultancy, and previously worked at the Bank of England where he spent 5 years in the Monetary Analysis Division.

Andrew is Senior European Economist in the Global Investment Research division at Goldman Sachs, where he leads the UK research coverage. He joined Goldman Sachs in 2011, after 12 years at the Bank of England, where most recently he was a senior adviser to the Monetary Policy Committee. Andrew was also seconded to the IMF (2006-08) and Bank of Spain Research Department (2002-03). Andrew has a PhD in Economics from Warwick University, where he also taught economics and econometrics. He is a Research Fellow for IZA, Institute for the Study of Labor in Germany.
