The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is seeking the views of members of the Society of Business Economists regarding necessary reductions to its statistical outputs in the following areas: survey products; regional and local outputs; health statistics and analyses, life events; and health inequalities analysis. Feedback on the need for, and use of, these outputs will help the ONS to prioritise reductions.
As around 80 per cent of our outputs are required under EU or UK law, this consultation focuses on non-statutory outputs – those not required by law. While we will have to reduce some outputs, we are not proposing to cut all of those listed. The aim of the consultation is to obtain feedback on the need for, and use of, these outputs so we can determine which cuts would have the least impact on our users. Your views will help to inform these important decisions.
Further information, together with a link to the consultation questionnaire, is here on the ONS website.
The consultation will close on 31 October 2013.
