James is Head of Ecomomics and Regulation at London Gatwick and a member of competition and regulation sectors. Prior to that he was Director of Sector Regulation at the Competition and Markets Authority and a senior economist at Ashurst LLP where he specialised in competition economics, advising on mergers, market analysis and competition investigations, in addition to providing economic advice to the Executive Management Team. Earlier in his career he worked for the Government Economic Service at both the Office of Fair Trading and the Competition Commission. James became the SBE’s Honorary Treasurer in 2012. He is also Chairman of the Royal British Legion’s Young Professionals branch and a member of the Legion’s National Districts Committee.

He has a strong interest in aviation and is an Associate of the Royal Aeronautical Society. James is also an Alumni Cabinet member at Royal Holloway, University of London and a member of the development committee at St Albans School.
