Booking is now open for the SBE Annual Dinner on 30 June and we are delighted to welcome James Bullard, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of St Louis, as our guest speaker. The Dinner will be held at the Institute of Directors, 116 Pall Mall, London SW1Y 5ED, commencing with a Drinks Reception at 6.30pm for sit-down dinner at 7.00pm.
During the course of the evening, President Bullard will give an enlightening talk on the US economy and monetary policy. An economist, Dr Bullard joined the Fed in 1990.
Since becoming president in 2008, Dr Bullard has called for the FOMC to adopt state-contingent policy and to give greater consideration to headline inflation than core inflation when deciding monetary policy. In the wake of the financial crisis, he supported quantitative easing and warned about the possibility of the United States’ falling into a Japanese-style deflationary trap. He has also argued that the US output gap may not be as large as many estimates suggest.
The Dinner will be presided over by the SBE Vice President, Sir Alan Budd, and include the presentation of the annual Rybczynski Prize. This year’s competition is kindly sponsored by PwC who will be donating the £3000 prize
This prestigious event provides an excellent opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new contacts, and of course to entertain clients.
