Evening Meeting: Return to growth… or is it ?

Are we finally returning to growth? Join our evening event on 15th October 2024 to hear from economists Sonali Punhani (Bank of America) and George Buckley (Nomura) who will be discussing global factors, the impact of the UK election and longer-term macroeconomic trends.  This event will be hosted by Arup and chaired by Vanja Munerati, Head of Strategy & Economics, Arup.

George Buckley is Nomura’s Chief European/UK Economist. He has twenty five years of experience as a market economist previously working for Deutsche Bank, London, in a similar role. Prior to that George completed his PhD in the area of housing market economics at Bristol University where he also taught undergraduate courses in macroeconomics. He holds an MSc in Economics & Finance (Bristol University) and a BA in Economics (Bangor University). George is the Chair of the Society of Professional Economists, a former winner of the Rybczynski Prize and a published author (What You Need to Know About Economics, Capstone).

Sonali Punhani is the UK Economist and Director at Bank of America. Prior to joining Bank of America in 2024, she was a European Economist, Executive Director at UBS. Previously she was the Head of UK Economics and a Director in the European Economics team at Credit Suisse, where she also worked in the Global Demographics and Pensions Research team. Sonali has 15 years of experience in financial services, leading the coverage and forecasting of monetary policy, fiscal policy, cyclical indicators and political developments for the UK economy. She has also presented her views at conferences, media forums such as Bloomberg, BBC, CNN and CNBC as well as external forums.

The event is being held at the offices of Arup, 80 Charlotte Street, London W1T 4QS on Tuesday 15 October 2024. The meeting will start at 5.30pm and be followed by a networking drinks reception. Registration from 5.15pm.
