Improving the UK’s Economic Statistics: Consultation Request from the Office for National Statistics

In the wake of Sir Charles Bean’s “Independent Review of UK Economic Statistics”, published in March, the Office for National Statistics has recently launched a fresh and wide-ranging data-coverage and gathering initiative the principal features of which are outlined in its Economic Statistics and Analysis Strategy (ESAS).

The Office for National Statistics is requesting feedback from all users of UK economic data, with a comment submission deadline of 30th June 2016.

Members of the Society of Business Economists may be interested in responding individually to this consultation process, and if so, please send any response direct to ESAS on ESAS@ons.gov.uk by 30 June.  If, however, anyone takes the view that the Society of Business Economists should, as an organisation, submit a response and has concrete proposals to that effect would they please get in touch with Kate Barker and Ian Harwood via admin@spe.org.uk as soon as possible.
