SPE Annual Dinner 2020

The SPE Annual Dinner will be held on Tuesday 3 March 2020 at the Institute of Directors, 116 Pall Mall, London SW1Y 5ED. The evening will commence with a Drinks Reception at 6.30pm followed by a sit-down dinner at 7.00pm.

We are honoured that the guest speaker will be Loretta J Mester.

Loretta J. Mester took office on June 1, 2014, as the 11th president and chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. She participates in the formulation of U.S. monetary policy and oversees 1,000 employees in Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh who conduct economic research, supervise banking institutions, and provide payment services to commercial banks and the U.S. government.

Before becoming president, Dr. Mester was executive vice president and director of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. She began her career as an economist at the Philadelphia Fed in 1985, and has been attending meetings of the Federal Open Market Committee since 2000, when she was named senior vice president and director of research.

Dr Mester is an adjunct professor of finance at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is a fellow at the Wharton Financial Institutions Center. Dr. Mester has published numerous articles in refereed academic and professional journals on economics, central banking, and other topics. She is managing editor of the International Journal of Central Banking and co-editor of the Journal of Financial Services Research.

During proceedings, we will also be presenting the annual 2020 Rybczynski Prize to the author of the best piece of business economics writing. The prize is generously sponsored by KPMG.
