The idea that each generation should enjoy substantially higher living standards than the one before them lies at the core of Britain’s postwar economy. But this story of generational progress has broken down for young people today – who are facing stunted progress in the labour market and an even bigger struggle in the housing market. How should economists, policy makers and policy makers look to address these problems of intergenerational equity?
Kindly hosted by the Resolution Foundation, the SPE meeting will discuss these issues. Chaired by Dame Kate Barker, speakers include Torsten Bell, Director, Resolution Foundation and Sean O’Grady from the Independent.
Torsen joined the Foundation in September 2015 as Director. Prior to this, Torsten was Director of Policy for the Labour Party and worked in the Treasury, both as a special adviser and a civil servant. Sean is Deputy Managing Editor and former Economics editor of the Independent.
