How important have labour market structures been to financial market performance in recent decades? How may the rapid pace of change in working patterns affect investments in the future?
Following the successful February event on careers for economists, the 2017 Masterclass programme continues its examination of labour markets with Dominic White, Chief Economist of Absolute Strategy Research. Dominic will lead a Masterclass focusing on how and why investors pay close attention to the world of work, both for short-term cues and long-run forecasting.
Dominic is the Chief Economist at Absolute Strategy Research, the top-rated independent macro-strategy research provider in each of the last eight years. Prior to joining ASR, he was part of the top-rated European economics team at ABN Amro. He has also worked at the UK Treasury, including in the teams responsible for forecasting the UK and global economies; and in the team that implemented the interventions and reform of British banks following the 2008 financial crisis.
Watch out for further Masterclasses in the 2017 programme: Professor Sir Richard Blundell of the IFS and UCL discusses “Inequality, Tax Reform and the Labour Market” (September 21st), and Dr Brad Speigner of the Bank of England examines the Bank of England’s approach to labour market analysis and forecasting (November, date TBC).
Registration is from 12pm; presentation will start promptly at 12.30pm. Booking is required: if you wish to attend, please email admin@spe.org.uk
