
Ulrike is an economist with experience in the public and private sector. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Sussex. Ulrike worked in the Government Economic Service from 2000 to 2016. Her work experience include labour market regulation, Health and Safety, Energy, Environment and Agriculture. She also led the teams in BEIS responsible for appraisal and evaluation methodology. In her last role in the civil service Ulrike was the Director of Analysis and Chief Economist in the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Since leaving the civil service Ulrike has worked in the private sector.
In 2017 she founded the consultancy LIVE Economics ltd whose Director she is. Ulrike is a member of the Competition and Markets Authority’s merger panel and the Enforcement Decision Panel at OfGem. She holds a position as Reader for Economic Policy Analysis at the University of Kent. Ulrike was a member of the Council of the UK Evaluation Society for 8 years and its Vice President between 2017 and 2019.
