Our panel of speakers will consider issues ranging from how monetary policy can be adapted at the zero lower bound to how central banksmight evolve more generally.
Dame Kate Barker is presently an NED of Man Group plc and Taylor Wimpey plc. She is also Chairman of Trustees for the British Coal Staff Superannuation Scheme and Chairman of theJersey Fiscal Policy Panel. In the public sector she is a member of the National Infrastructure Commission and of the Industrial Strategy Council. Previously, Kate was a member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) from 2001 until May 2010. During this period, she also led two major policy reviews for Government, on housing supply and on land use planning. Before joining the MPC she was Chief Economic Adviser at the CBI.
Dr Andrew Black is Senior Research Fellow, the Global Policy Institute. Andrew has extensive experience in management consulting, corporate finance, corporate and investment strategy. He is co-author of ‘Federal Central Banks: A comparison of the US Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank’.
Tony Yates was a staffer at the Bank of England for 20 years and a Professor of Economics at Birmingham University. He now consults for Fathom Consulting and is an Associate at the Resolution Foundation. He writes a blog ‘longandvariable’ and his columns have appeared on Bloomberg and in outlets like the Independent, New Statesman and the FT’s Alphaville.
