The presentation will cover McKinsey Global Institute’s latest research on the impact of technology trends on both the economy, welfare and broader well-being; and the coordinated action necessary to maximise outcomes and smoothen the technology transition. The research illustrates and quantifies a “Technology for good” scenario where governments and businesses use technology levers to reduce inequality and improve well-being outcomes. The impacts are analysed for different “personae” – such as an older male with secondary level education working in a manufacturing plant, or a highly educated female working in professional services in an urban area. The research also includes several hundred use cases of technology, explaining the channels through which they impact on individuals.
