On Monday 17th October, the SPE in association with the Resolution Foundation will hold an evening meeting on Demographics. The two speakers will include Amlan Roy, who recently published the book “Demographics Unravelled”, as well as Dr Normal Cohen, honorary research fellow at Queen Mary University of London. Together they will explore a variety of ways in which demographics matters for the economy, financial markets, health and social security, and especially economic policy making. The evening will be chaired by James Smith, Research Director at the Resolution Foundation.

Amlan Roy is an experienced Global Macro-Finance Researcher & Thought Leader specialising in Global Macroeconomics & Demographics. His book “Demographics Unravelled” published by Wiley in Jan 2022 mentioned by the FT as one of the best new books in Economics. Amlan founded Global Macro Demographics in July 2021.

Dr Norma Cohen is a former Financial Times columnist, reporting on fund management, pensions and economic issues more broadly through her career in journalism. She has a long-standing interest in issues related to population ageing, becoming the FT’s first Demography Correspondent in 2012. She has since returned to academia and is an Honorary Research Fellow at Queen Mary University of London.

The event is being held at the Resolution Foundation, 2 Queen Anne’s Gate, London, SW1H 9AA. Registration and networking drinks from 5.00pm. The presentations will start at 5.30pm promptly.
